Anyone had surgery through NFZ?

Im curious if anyone has been in a similar situation. I have a broken ankle and I first visited orthopedic surgeon privately after finding him on ZnanyLekarz. After reviewing my ankle, he offered to put me on his NFZ waiting list for ankle surgery at the hospital where he also operates. Is the quality of surgery under NFZ generally the same as private if it’s performed by the same surgeon? If the surgeon puts you on his waiting list, does that usually mean he will actually perform the operation, or could another surgeon be assigned? Is there anything I should make sure to ask before agreeing to surgery? Some of polish friend says NFZ is kinda risky.
